October

Hello Autumn!

The children have been busy observing the beautiful transformations that autumn brings. One of the most noticeable changes has been the colour of the leaves. From lush greens to brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow, the trees are becoming a canvas of autumnal beauty. The children have enjoyed watching the season unfold, learning how the cooler weather and shorter days signal trees to prepare for winter.

Autumn is a wonderful time for learning through exploration, and it’s been a joy to see the children so engaged with the world around them. Their observations not only deepen their understanding of nature but also nurture a sense of wonder and appreciation for the changing seasons.

On their outdoor adventures, they’ve also spotted acorns and conkers scattered across the ground. These seasonal treasures have sparked conversations about the life cycles of trees and the animals that rely on them for food. Some children have even begun collecting them, turning their findings into creative classroom displays and nature-inspired crafts.

The Hairy Caterpillar

We found a green and black, hairy caterpillar in the nursery garden! The boys and girls wanted to call him “fluff ball “ because he has soft spikes on his body. We watched him move and noticed that his feet could stick to things. We looked online to see if we could find out if he would turn into a butterfly. He is a pale tussock moth caterpillar. 😊🐛

We love Dinners!

The children have been getting used to their new dinner routines. They are helping to set the table, pour their own drinks and scrape their own plates! The boys and girls are getting used to new tastes and textures every day.
