School Background

Moira Primary is controlled by the Department of Education and managed by the South Eastern Education & Library Board. We are a naturally integrated and inclusive school welcoming and valuing children from all backgrounds – religious, cultural and social.

Moira Primary School is situated in the village of Moira on a spacious, attractively landscaped, mature site which includes tarmac and grass play areas. Our modern school environment comprises 14 classrooms, library, ICT suite, activity based learning resource areas, multipurpose hall, staffroom, administrative block and meals kitchen.

We have a nursery alongside two classes in each academic year group, led by 13 full-time and 4 part-time teachers. The classroom assistants, clerical staff, caretaker, cleaners, lunch-time supervisory assistants, school meals staff and crossing patrols complete a team dedicated to the education and welfare of the children entrusted to our care.

The school maintains close and valued links with the Moira and District Community. Associations include local Churches, Library, Council, Neighbourhood Police and other schools. An important part of our strong community tradition is to think of others less fortunate. We annually support a number of charities either in kind e.g. the Shoebox Present Appeal or through sponsored events which raise significant amounts for a variety of charities both local and worldwide.
