Topic based measuring is fun 😃. We used cubes to measure the height and length of different zoo animals. The big plastic bricks were good for measuring our heights. We are learning how to get better at making sensible estimates or guesses.

We made circuits and tested different objects to find out about conductors and insulators. Many metals are conductors because the bulb lit up brighty. We tested brass split pins, a paper clip, tin foil, pipe cleaners and they all let the energy pass through them to light the bulb. We liked using the crocodile clips 😃

We have been learning all about the number bonds to ten. We know numbers have best friends when they make ten. We played games and worked in pairs to help us remember our bonds.

We worked in pairs to make posters about animals. We found lots of facts, drew our own illustrations and worked out how to present our posters so they look clear and effective.

We used clay to make thumb pots. We painted them to look like African pots, just like Handa.

A beautiful sunny morning for our Sports Day 😃

What a fantastic day P2 had at Belfast Zoo. The sun shone, the animals were amazing and we had fun at the play park too. John told us lots of interesting facts about the animals 😃

We loved making circuits to light a bulb. We discovered play dough conducts electricity. We had great fun making a human circuit by joining hands to make the energy stick buzz and light up. 😃

We are learning so much through our ‘Zoo’ topic. Our play based learning is lots of fun 🤩
