April

P3 were developing an awareness of 1 kilogram today.  They used balance scales and a kilogram weight to see if they could find things in the classroom that were less than a kilogram, more than a kilogram or about the same weight as a kilogram.

Inspired by our visit from Mr Clarke we used chalk pastels to draw foxes today. We worked really hard to try and get the distinctive fox face just right. Watch this space to see our finished products.

We had a very informative visit from Eli’s Dad, Mr Clarke today. He came to talk to us about our WAU topic of Plants, Animals and Habitats.  Mr Clarke is the Head Ranger in Lagan Valley Regional Park. He told us about ancient tree that is growing in Belvoir Forest Park. He taught us how all plants are connected and rely on each other for their survival. We got to look closely at some woodland animals and birds and ask lots of questions about our woodlands.  All this valuable information will be very helpful later in the term when we start to write our fact files on a woodland animal. We are very great full that Mr Clarke gave up his time to visit us today.

Congratulations to Caleb who was the recipient of the Barnabas award just before Easter. 👏

Measuring

P3 have been measuring with metre sticks in the classroom. We estimated whether the the heights, widths and lengths of some objects were more or less than 1 metre.
