P1 have been exploring the language first and last. We followed instructions to place the bears onto the first and last carriage. We then asked our partners to place a bear on the first or last carriage on the train.
We explored numbers 1-4 using numicon shapes and using these shapes to draw pictures. we threaded the correct number of beads onto pipe cleaners, practised forming the numbers using dough and white board markers and used a categorising thinking frame to sort number buttons.
P1 have been learning all about how we change when we grow up. P1 talked about all the things we do at different stages of our life. We discussed what we can do as a baby and what we can do now. We talked about having jobs when we are adults. P1 thought about all of the different jobs they would like to do when they are an adult. We used the Pic Collage app to insert a photo and draw a picture of what we would like to be when we grow up! Take a look at all of the different jobs we aspire to do.
As part of our ‘All About Me’ topic we have been thinking about ‘Our School’ 🏫 To help us familiarise us with our surroundings, we took a walk and carefully took note of everything we passed on our journey around school. When we got back to class we worked together to recall important features that should be on our map of school, then worked together to create our very own map. We loved making our map and took time to look all the different styles of maps, even some cool ancient maps.
We looked at a PowerPoint of pictures related to making top hat buns but quickly realised they were in the wrong order. We discussed the importance of images being in the correct order, otherwise stories and instructions might not make sense. We used a sequencing thinking frame to help us put the instructions in the correct order. Now we have delicious buns for Teddy’s birthday.
✋🏻Our Hands 🤚🏽
