P7 had a very enjoyable trip to Armagh Planetarium . The visit started with a film about Neil Armstrong.
We then constructed rockets (complete with astronauts), fuelled them and launched them outside. The landing capsules were reclaimed afterwards - sadly there were no survivors.
Inside again we learnt about the International Space Station and had a chance to handle space rock.
After lunch we headed to the theatre where we were given a great insight into what it's like to be an astronaut. We also learned about our solar system and had a glimpse at what the stars will look like in tonight's sky. The highlight of the show, for many, was the virtual rollercoaster ride on "Armaghgeddon! "
The Planetarium staff were quite impressed with our knowledge of space but, after today, we have all certainly expanded our learning!
