In play based learning this week we were encouraged to make 'Harriet's house' using cuisinaire rods. We had to find the correct rod for each part of the house. We were challenged to make a house bigger than Harriet's house.
- Made towers of unifix cubes from 1-10. We ordered them from 1 to 10. In pairs we played 'what is missing?' One person hid a tower. The other person worked out which tower was missing.
- Placed bears on a train template. We had to put them on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th carriage.
Today we made a torn giant taller than the one on the template. We also made smaller torn giants than the one on the notice board.
After listening to the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', we used counters to make our own repeating colour pattern caterpillars. Our first challenge was to use 2 colours to make our pattern. The harder challenge was to make a pattern using 3 colours.
